Confocal Scheduler:
In order to log in to the Confocal Scheduler, you will need a password. In order to obtain a password the following steps must be taken:
1. Contact Qiong Wang (room n. 2-9892, phone: 3-1968) to arrange a training session (~ 80 minutes). You could bring your own slide to practice.
2. Prior to the training session, read carefully the “RULES FOR THE CONFOCAL USE”. These rules are mandatory for everybody.
NOTE: Failure to comply with any of the established guidelines will result in removal of Confocal privileges.
Rules for the Confocal Use
- TIME LIMITS:
Maximum time per person per day is 2 hrs
Movies of live specimens: 4 hrs
- this policy ensures that everybody can have a fair chance to collect data for their experiments, and has an equal access to the confocal.
- use of another person's name to circumvent this rule is not acceptable.
- if you need more time, use evenings (after 9 pm) or weekends.
- SIGN-UP RULES:
Anyone wishing to use the Confocal MUST sign-in and book time via the Webscheduler.
- signing up more than 4 days ahead is not permitted.
- if your have changed your plans/mind after signing up--delete your reservation, so other people can use your time slot, inform the next person on the list about these changes, if done less than 24 hrs before the intended use.
- CONFOCAL USE
- Use your LAB account to log in, password is required. All users from the same lab will share the same log in.
- All images and settings have to be saved on D drive, nowhere else. Create your own Folder with your name.
- AFTER YOU HAVE FINISHED using the confocal, do the following:
- write down in notebook your name, lab, actual time of use, describe any problems that arose during your session, so they can be fixed by the maintenance company
- make sure that the next person on the list will actually use the microscope. It is your responsibility to make sure that the confocal is not left unattended.
- clean the objectives from the oil--excess oil running down can damage the scope; use Lens Paper only
- always reduce laser power / brightness in the case someone will use the confocal later, or
- shut down the confocal per standard procedure, if nobody is signed up after you
- save your files on flash drives, CDs. Any data files 2 months or older will be deleted.
- user folder size should not exceed 3GB
- log off from your LAB account, do not switch users
